What I Learned in the World of Adult Movies
I am sitting in my car in San Diego, a city that is just as big a hub for adult film as it is for indie.
The city has a strong indie film scene, and the film industry is a major employer here.
I am one of the filmmakers that has been able to survive, and prosper, here, thanks to a robust local film industry that I have nurtured and fostered.
A couple of weeks ago, I found myself in the same situation, when I stumbled upon the trailer for a new film called The Strange Case of Mrs. Black.
The story is about a girl who falls in love with a man from her hometown, but is then kidnapped and forced to watch his father’s body decompose in a local dump.
As I read the synopsis, I was reminded of the many, many horror stories of men being raped, mutilated, or even killed.
At the time, I had not read the film, but was intrigued by the fact that the director, Tina Berenson, had mentioned that the story was based on a true story, a true tale of a woman being abducted and raped by her rapist’s brother.
Tiny and beautiful, with an eye for detail, this film is one that would not be out of place in the genre of the best American horror stories.
I thought, Why not try it?
But when I found out that this was a film I could work on and finish, I knew I had to give it a shot.
It was the best decision I have ever made in my career, and one that has not only given me a job but has been a huge part of my personal growth.
I have a lot to thank TINA Berenssons team for making this film.
My producer, John Ziegler, and I worked together for two years to make this film happen.
John has a background in motion pictures, and has been producing and producing American films since the early 90s.
He and I had a very specific vision of what we wanted to accomplish, and what I wanted to achieve.
We had a great cast, and a fantastic story.
I really look forward to working with them again.
With my family, I am blessed to have an amazing, loving husband and a wonderful wife, who are just as passionate about their work as I am.
And with the help of my family and my friends, I have found my passion in a film that will be shared around the world, and will help change lives.
When I see the trailer, I want to see it on the big screen, and if you can’t make it to the festival, you can watch it on VOD.
If you can, then it will be on Netflix and other platforms soon.
You can read my thoughts on the film here.
In the end, we did not make a budget or a budget to make The Strange Incident.
We just wanted to create something that people wanted to see, and we were able to make that happen.
I love what TINA is doing with this film, and thank her for making it.
Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful Halloween!
